Health Samurai, a provider of FHIR-native software solutions, has partnered with the Washington State Department of Health (WA DOH) to support statewide situational awareness and public health reporting using the Aidbox platform. The collaboration focuses on modernizing how WA DOH collects, manages, and analyzes healthcare data from 93 acute care hospitals across the state. The effort addresses growing demands for faster, more consistent public health reporting during periods of increased system pressure.
By adopting Aidbox as its core FHIR public health data repository, WA DOH is establishing a unified, standards-based platform to monitor hospital bed capacity and respiratory illness trends. The initiative strengthens the state’s ability to respond to public health events using timely, accurate, and interoperable data.
Aidbox enables WA DOH to move beyond fragmented reporting pipelines by combining FHIR-native APIs with high-performance SQL on FHIR capabilities. This approach supports modern FHIR workflows, while aligning with national implementation guides such as US Core and US SAFR. The result is a scalable foundation for real-time situational awareness and future public health integrations.
