KONZA Health, a data intermediary for providers and payers as well as a Designated QHIN™ under TEFCA™ and a Designated CMS Aligned Network, has partnered with Health Samurai and adopted its Aidbox FHIR platform to advance KONZA Health's FHIR-first workflows. The partnership strengthens KONZA Health's ability to deliver scalable, standards-based data exchange that supports both clinical and administrative use cases across its national network.
At the core of these capabilities is Health Samurai's C-CDA-to-FHIR conversion pipeline. KONZA Health transforms large volumes of HL7 v2 messages and XML/CCD clinical documents into conformant FHIR bundles for multiple use cases, then validates those bundles against the FHIR US Core Implementation Guide, CQL for digital HEDIS, and other national implementation guides. This process helps ensure the converted data meets the standards required for downstream clinical and administrative use.
Powering NCQA DAV accreditation
The C-CDA-to-FHIR conversion pipeline powers several of KONZA Health's key product lines and services. Most notably, it supports KONZA Health's NCQA DAV (Data Aggregation and Validation) accreditation offering, a rigorous data quality validation program that helps health plans with HEDIS quality measurement and prepares them for the 2030 requirements for digital HEDIS. KONZA Health is EMR-agnostic and is one of only a few organizations in the nation to achieve NCQA DAV FHIR full accreditation for Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, athenahealth, and TruBridge.
Enabling FHIRlite prior authorization
KONZA Health also uses the Health Samurai C-CDA-to-FHIR conversion pipeline in its new FHIRlite prior authorization product. FHIRlite supports providers whose EHR systems do not yet offer FHIR capabilities. It is currently going through the Drummond electronic Prior Authorization process and will begin production deployment in Q3 2026. By converting native CCDs to FHIR, KONZA Health helps providers and payers meet CMS-0057-F prior authorization workflows for document retrieval.
"Health Samurai's Aidbox platform supports KONZA Health's continued investment in FHIR-first infrastructure and emerging products like FHIRlite. As demand grows for FHIR-based clinical data exchange and advanced data intermediary transformations, the partnership with Health Samurai helps us expand the ways providers, payers, and partners can access actionable health information through trusted national infrastructure."
— Laura McCrary, EdD, President and CEO, KONZA Health
"KONZA Health is advancing some of the most important interoperability work happening in the market today. Their national infrastructure, TEFCA QHIN and CMS Aligned Network participation, and focus on practical FHIR-enabled use cases make them a strong partner for Aidbox as healthcare organizations move toward more scalable, standards-based data exchange."
