About the Meetup
Every MDM project is unique. In production, the main challenge is implementation — embedding MDM into the workflows, integrations, and operations a healthcare system already runs on.
Especially relevant for healthcare architects, engineering leaders, FHIR and interoperability teams, MDM/MPI teams, EHR vendors, HIEs, TEFCA-related exchange teams, payer and provider organizations, revenue cycle management teams, and data governance professionals.

We Merged the Wrong Patients. Now What?
You merge two patient records, then discover they belong to different people after the lab has already corrected an old result and sent a new one. What should happen to those results when you undo the merge? I'll walk through this example in FHIR, looking at what history and Provenance can tell us and which decisions we still have to make ourselves.
What is missing in current standards for MDM implementation
Why real-world MDM needs more than existing standards provide, where implementation guidance is missing, and why the community may need an IG for healthcare MDM.
Identity Integrity: MDM, FHIR, and the Human in the Loop
Interoperability makes patient identity integrity more consequential, not less, because standardized exchange moves incorrect linkages as efficiently as correct ones. This session presents a straightforward model: MDM establishes trust, FHIR extends its reach, and human stewardship supplies the judgment and accountability neither technology provides on its own.
Beyond Patient Matching: Keeping Clinical Data Consistent
MDM doesn't end with matching or merging the Patient. Lessons from integrating patient matching into a multi-source FHIR pipeline: how identity decisions have to propagate safely across Encounters, Conditions, Observations and related resources so downstream systems stay consistent and usable.
